Days 5 to 8 of the Pre-op Bariatric Diet

January 23, 2020

I’m really liking my low fat or fat free cream of chicken soup as you can probably see. I look forward to my soup, but everyone is different. You may want to change up the kind of soup you have over the course of the two weeks. Just be sure to follow the requirements of the diet. After surgery, it’ll be slightly different – you will not be satisfied with only one or two dishes every day. So, to prepare for the long-term, it’s helpful to test out some of your culinary creativity during this program!

How I feel

It’s getting easier to manage hunger. After day four I stopped feeling as hungry and had no more headaches. My energy level has been really good and I’m excited to say that I’ve lost 5 pounds.

Challenges

Watching other people eat regular meals is definitely a challenge, but now that I’m not as hungry and feeling satisfied with less, it’s not so bad.

Other Thoughts and Ideas

As with any diet, the first few days are the toughest. All of the less than ideal foods that I was eating before had to be flushed out of my system and along with it with the cravings. Once I got over the headache on day 2, the diet is a lot easier to maintain. So, don’t give up – trust me it will get better!!

I am doing this with some of my co-workers. I suggest that you buddy up with someone else and do the diet together. Having someone to lean on and who is experiencing the same feelings is a great way to stay on track.
